The Cart3D Mailing List & Discussion Group

Is there a Cart3D Discussion Group?

Yes. After quite a bit of tinkering, we've switched from direct email-based mailing list to a to a web-based discussion group for Cart3D. We're hosting the group through google groups. Please visit  http://groups.google.com/group/cart3d for a look. You need to be a member to view the content and participate in discussions. Anyone can join, and you do not need an invitation.

  Why google groups?
We're hosting this through google groups. Several factors weighed into this decision, universal accessibility, features, etc.. Frankly I liked the searching and presentation of archival posts. New posts typically show in a mater of seconds, are searchable within minutes, and show up in RSS feeds shortly thereafter. The environment also provides excellent tools for following, marking and archiving threads.  I wont say that I exhaustively checked all other options, but I did look at 3 or 4 alternatives and was most pleased with this particular environment.
    Delivery options: e-mail, RSS, web?
Members can choose to receive e-mail notification of all new posts, posts on selected topics only, or no-email whatsoever. The default delivery option is "Email". You can access archived posts either through the web portal or via an RSS feed. In addition, the requirement of a google account intentionally requires you to actively opt-in to join the discussions and should reduce the traffic in off-topic posting. Nevertheless, be aware that you will be required to agree to google's privacy policy and your personal information will be guarded by this policy. I encourage all prospective members to review this policy before joininWe're hosting this through go
    FAQ posts?
Search the discussion group for "FAQ" to see an always-up-to-date list of Frequently Asked Questions. The discussion group also has links to a growing list of "HowTo's" in response to certain frequent queries.
