Introduction
The Growler-Arch package provides the set of libraries and tools needed for developing and using the Growler Distributed Component Architecture.
It has five pieces:

PIDL/Parsifal: Growler's Interface Definition Language and its compiler.
Growler's IDL compiler is called parsifal, for mainly silly reasons. Therefore the language is refered to as "PIDL": the Parsifal Interface Definition Language.

GCA: The Growler Distributed Component Architecture
Comprised of the gca namespace and the libgrowler-dca library. It provides the implementation of Ports, the fundamental abstraction of a distributed object; EventPorts, which provide an event channel abstraction; and Components, which are objects that provide functionality via a set of PortSockets and PortNodes.

GCF: The Growler Distributed Component Framework
Comprised of the gcf namespace and the libgrowler-dcf library. It provides the implementation of the Growler distributed object namespace and command interpreter, and other classes which provide a runtime framework for acting on distributed objects.

EDOF: The Expedient Distributed Object Framework
The "Port Distribution Component". A special component which, when loaded, provides the infrastructure to GCA for managing distributed objects and event channels, including the implementation of remote method invocation and distributed reference counting, and all network connection management.

Growler Utilities
Several utilities support configuration, control, and navigation of the distributed component environment.
