The image and MPEG movie (click the image for the 1.6 MB movie) show the TSP-Tree volume rendering algorithm's behavior when the error tolerance is varied. The shock data set is shown with purple lines showing the octree nodes. A square dot in each node's upper right corner shows how the node was rendered. A red dot indicates that the node was rendered using a texture for the current frame, a green dot indicates that a texture was reused from a previous frame, and a white dot indicates that the node was not rendered using textures. Texture reuse comes when the node's temporal error value is less than the tolerance, and no textures are used when the scalar error value is less than the tolerance.
