Release of Chimera Grid Tools Version 1.7

• OVERGRID:
  • Reduced peak memory requirement for reading/writing structured entities by about 50% with even higher reduction for volume grids. Also increased speed of reading/writing by at least a factor of 2.
  • Added option to write single or double precision plot3d output file irrespective of current entity precision in memory.
  • Introduced separate modules for Boundary Conditions and Components. Components modules can be used to define components hierarchy and component/grid relationship, define and animate prescribed motion, read/write xml files for components and motion for interfacing with other applications.
  • Filenames containing .tri, i.tri, .I.tri, .triq, .i.triq, or .I.triq anywhere in the name will now be treated as CART3D files.
  • Split entity into 2 with N overlapped points where N can be > 1.
  • Added capability to display grid quality functions for volume grids.
  • Fixed display color bug in PROGRD and added reporting of max and min distance moved locations.
  • Added grid number and index table to Jacobian checks report in DIAGNOS.
  • Fixed bug in memory allocation for repeated bodies.
  • Fixed bug in not updating edge lists for edge swap function in TRIGED.
  • Fixed bug in GRIDED split function for L-direction, also added acceptance of negative split indices.
  • Fixed bug in surface of revolution function in GRIDED.
  • Added compatibility with tcl/tk 8.3.4.
  • Fixed bug in script creation and UNDO for LSECT function in GRIDED.
• Added option in configure script to specify Fortran and C compilers and flags on command line (configure -help for details), pulled suffix rules from all Makefiles into one Make.rules file. Default Fortran compiler has been set to Fortran 90.
• New optional parameter for SPLIT function in GRIDED to allow more than 1 overlapped point for split grids.
• Fixed bug in SURGRD related to stencil search for 11<=IBC<=14, implemented proper treatment for 3-curve TFI's.
• Added new function in gridinf.F and Gridinf.tcl to find min/max total arc length in J, K or L direction over a given subset, and also report the locations of the min and max's.
• Added reporting of min distance moved in PROGRD.
• Added reporting of body id's in read and write operations in XRAYED, also added option to shift body id in read append, fixed up ability to read duplicated xray file format, added ability to duplicate multiple xrays in one go.
• Added option to read multiple grid file format in SETZETA, also added dynamic memory allocation.
• Fixed bugs in HYPGEN in normals computation for blending algorithm and singular point detection used in cases with constant plane boundary conditions.
• Fixed mixed single/double i/o problems in p3dtyp.F.
• Added checks in OVERINT for missing expected input parameters in q.save, and modified small prisms tolerance to scale with total area in quad cells.
• Improved periodicity test for boundary strings in MIXSUR. It can now accept a larger tolerance for periodic grids with non-coincident end planes.
• Modified overhist to skip over contaminated blocks (may have missing data) in fomoco file and continue reading until the end of file. Last known values are used to fill missing data.
• Modified GEN_X to allow J and K constant surfaces in hole cutter as well as L constant surfaces.
• Modified MIXSUR and OVERINT to always write/read single precision grid.i.tri, irrespective of whether code is compiled with single or double precision flag. Implemented unbiased prism volume computation in OVERINT.
• Added option in BOXGR to generate box grids with multigriddable number of points (see boxgr.html).
• modified lib/surgrdlib/Makefile.in and lib/hypgenlib/Makefile.in to use the configure definitions for AR and ARFLAGS
• added RunSmosurf to Exec.tcl
• merged new makevol and BuildVol from Boeing Long Beach: mods for legrid 1.5
• modified subroutine wric3d in lib/trityp.F: for double-precision convert coordinates to real()
• modified wkcut to version 1.0n: add rel[xyz] to control of cap wakes
• fixed bug in reord: dynamic allocation of tmp arrays
• modified minterp to add -output_normals option, and fix array allocation bug which passed a real array to in integer array dummy arg
• updated loadis for new args to the minterp_s array, added RunLoadis to scriptlib/Exec.tcl
• added ivspec and epsss input options to makevol, BuildVol
• updated BuildPeg5i and scripts.html: include options to specify HCUT and [JKL]INCLUDE in the scripts inputs.tcl file.
• updated BuildVol and scripts.html: added istr option for BOXGR
• updated BuildOveri: added variables for GLOBAL, FLOINP, METPRM, TIMACU namelists
• updated wingcap: fixed bug in overflow BC formatting, added le_corner_push
• updated BuildPeg5i: source inputs.tcl to identify phantom meshes
• corrected loadis documentation: removed word "sectional"
• added bug fix for wingcap, version 2.75.
• fixed bug in WriteOvfi in ovfi.tcl: grid name match for writing out BCPAR1 and BCFILE lines was using "*$NAME", so it could write out erroneous lines for grid names containing part of another grids name
• BuildMixsuri: added writing of inflow/outflow surfaces if they have family names defined for them in the Ovr input file or Ovr array. Added ability to use values of MIXSUR(refa,refl,xmc,ymc,zmc) as defined in inputs.tcl; updated scripts.html for these variables
• BuildVol: added writing of .ovfi file for meshes generated with (command) option. Modified boxgr input file: will use value of MESH(mlevel) variable from inputs.tcl to specify MLEVEL input for the new version of BOXGR.

Users on NAS machines

Users on NAS machines have the option to link to pre-compiled executables on server machines. Choose the appropriate installation, and make both of the following additions to your path and to your environment. These examples are for /bin/csh users:
• SGI workstations on .nas.nasa.gov network, single precision:

• SGI workstations on .nas.nasa.gov network, double precision:

OVERGRID users on NAS workstations also have to copy the following preferences file and put it in the user's home directory:
/r/octane13/u/wk/chimera/cgt1.7/bin/.overgridrc
