Release of Chimera Grid Tools Version 1.9

Version 1.9 of Chimera Grid Tools is now ready for your testing and use.

ALL current and new users will need to sign a new general Software Usage Agreement form for version 1.9 and return it to the NASA Ames Office of Technology Partnerships by FAX (650) 604-1592. Select one of the following forms based on the user's employer category.

There have been many changes and bug fixes since the last release so please read the following log carefully. A Fortran 90 compiler is now required to compile this package. Highlights of new features include:

OVERGRID:
- Added new module to view one or more frames of grid and solution for problems with static, moving and adaptive grids. Plotting options include wireframe or contours. Multiple frame cases can be animated with optional output to rgb or xwd files.
- Added interface for creating inputs and running debris tracing code. Trajectories are automatically displayed with impact points colored by impact speed.
- Replaced OVERFLOW-D flow solver interface with OVERFLOW-2 interface.
- Added file name filter in file i/o box.
- Added auto-naming of grids based on input filename. Grid names are only partially supported currently (all input grids will get a name, newly created grids will not get a name, names may not work after one or more entities are deleted).
- Improved speed of grid wireframe rendering for cases with iblanks.
- View reset for +/- x/y/z has been modified to a local reset, i.e., current zoom is maintained.
- Fixed bug in grided for revolving grid with just 1 point.
- Compatible with Tcl/tk 8.4.3, 8.4.4, 8.4.5, 8.4.6, 8.4.7.
CGT 1.9 has been ported to Mac OS-X. Default compiler and flags in configure have been set for the xlf compiler from IBM.
For linux systems, three machine types are automatically detected by configure: i686 (pentium, athlon), itanium and opteron. Based on the detected machine type, a default Fortran 90 compiler is automatically selected. See INSTALLATION.html for more details.
New utilities are in red, existing utilities are in blue
scriptlib: many new tcl procedures have been added to scriptlib for performing GRIDED, SRAP, SURGRD-TFI, HYPGEN and BOXGR functions (see doc/scriptlib.html for details).
scriptbin: added capability to use deeper level subdirectories (code modified from Yoram Yadlin's version).
CURVAR: added new utility to compute the areas bounded by one or more closed 2-D curves with proper treatment of non-simply connected regions.
GEN_X: added output of percent hits and misses by rays within bounding box.
GENCORE: added new utility to generate volume grid with H-topology inside the core of a tube.
GENPIPE: added new utility to generate constant diameter pipe surface grid from a given 3-D centerline curve.
GRIDED: fixed bug for revolving grid with just 1 point, allow revolving about user-specified arbitrary axis, added option to specify grid range for output grid numbers.
HYPGEN: added automatic output of multiple grid format if input surface grid is in multiple grid format; added optional parameter KLAYER for number of constant wall-spacing cells in the normal direction (see hypgen.html for format)
INTCHK: added new utility to check interpolation stencil quality from INTOUT or XINTOUT using grid coordinates.
MINMAX: added option to output only the minmax of entire grid system using -globalmm command line option.
MIXSUR: added same surface test in polygon triangulation.
OVERINT: fixed bug in prism volume computation (VOL5 sign change), TINF and TINF1 initialization, Y and Z ref. length format, allow negative surface numbers in component surface list for substracting contribution from surface, ram drag output for non-zero mass flow rate cases, output local forces in wind axes; also modified output of x/y/z moments to show pressure, viscous and total contributions.
OVERPLOT/OVERHIST: added option to plot order drop in residuals for subiterations and rpmin output file from OVERFLOW, and dynamics data from animate.out output file from OVERFLOW. Also added option to output 2 column data to file in OVERPLOT (as well as to screen and PostScript)
PIP: added output of inertial properties block in GMP XML format, added trap for zero area triangles.
PROGRD: added output of max distance moved for each grid; added output of signed distance moved in promug.dis (q5) where positive values indicate movement along positive local surface normal direction, and vice versa.
SRAP: added option to copy point distribution from curve subset of another grid in input file; added option to create multi-griddable number of points for options with automatic point number determination.
TSCAN: added new script utility for the cross sectional area of a triangulated object versus x, y or z.
TRIGED: added bounding box computation function.
XRAYED: added option to shift all body IDs by same increment.
New forttype.h from Pieter: -DPTR64 forces 64-bit pointers
Additions to BuildPeg5i for namelists REGION, VOLUME, BOUNDARY, SURFACE, and BOX; updated doc/script.html
gridinf: increased number of columns for JKL output in SRCHLN
Removed catch statement around entire code within proc TrimCurve in Trim.tcl
splitmx,splitmq: added return to format statment when prompting for input indicies to avoid very long lines in stdout in batch runs, fixed format when writing out input grid zone numbers.
Fixed bug in BuildVol: MESH(command) fuctionality: Ovr(MESH,lbce) not getting set. Changed this logic so it now only calls WriteOvfi for this mesh if the Ovr BC entries are set by the user first; also updated the documentation to clarify the MESH(command) function.
Added -include-phantom flag to BuildOveri and modified BuildPeg5i so it will use this flag and create a peg.i file with phantom walls included
Changed examples/scripts/inputs.tcl: default(fringe)=2
Fixed bug in ovfi.tcl: writing of BCPAR1 and BCFILE lines needed commas
Fixed bug in BuildPlot: surface grid still being created with -nofile
New BuildPeg5i from Darby Vicker: added -no_install_vol flag
New minterp with -filter command-line option
Added proc RunBoxgr to scriptlib/Exec.tcl
Added hcut(?,internal) to BuildPeg5i
